A stunning early 20th Century American Sterling silver coffee, tea or hot water pot manufactured by The Ellmore Silver Company of Meriden CT. The pot has beautiful hand chased and very fine floral scrolls with rococo styling and is mounted on a pivoting Sterling stand over a Sterling spirit burner. This will make a great decorative or functional statement piece placed in any room of a home, and being made entirely of Sterling (925) silver means it would also be a tangible investment in this precious metal.
The pot is stamped with the makers mark and all items are marked “STERLING”. There is an engraved fancy interlocking monogram of three initials on a cartouche on the back (see photos). We estimate this pot to be early 20th century as the manufacturer was known to be active between 1935 and 1960.
DIMENSIONS
9ʺW × 7ʺD × 15ʺH
CONDITION
Good Condition, Original Design Modified, Some Imperfections
CONDITION NOTES
There is a small but noticeable 1/8in circular ding directly above monogram that can be repaired. There are various other smaller surface marks, scratches, etc., commensurate with normal use and age. The handle is slightly loose due only to securing pins backing out either side of insulating blocks. There are three pieces to this set: the actual pot with an attached hinged top, the stand, and the burner with attached swiveling lid. We cannot guarantee that all three items originally went together or may have been changed in the past. We have not attempted to fully polish this piece and there are areas that would benefit from professional polishing especially around the handle “joints” and within the crevices of the hand chased floral design. Overall the pot, stand and burner display very well and function as designed.
