Painting by Peter Baumgartner | This is a 19th century oil painting on canvas attributed to the German artist Peter Baumgartner (1834-1911). The painting certainly has the quality and style of Baumgartner and there is evidence of a signature lower right which is highlighted in the photos, however we have not been able to fully decipher the signature as Baumgartner so we are selling this artwork as an attribution. It measures approximately 14″(h) x 16″(w) framed and is in good condition and ready to hang.
CONDITION
The artwork and the frame are in good condition, structurally sound and ready to hang. There looks to be previous gilding repairs carried out to the frame and there is some separation at the corners but no looseness. The canvas shows signs of light craquelure throughout and may have previously been re-varnished, it is in stable condition.
